Modernize Your Business

Frequently Asked Questions.

Answers to common questions about pricing, services, and how we work together.

Getting Started

What's the first step to working with you?

It starts with a discovery call. We'll talk through where things stand today, what's not working, and what you're trying to accomplish. From there, we recommend the service and tier that actually fits — not the biggest package we sell — and send over a proposal.

How long does a typical engagement take?

It depends on the service and tier — a Foundational Audit can wrap in about a week, while a full Website Modernization or an ongoing Fractional Leadership retainer runs much longer. We give you a specific timeline as part of your proposal once we know the scope, so you're never guessing.

Pricing

Do you offer fixed pricing?

Yes. Most engagements are fixed-price within the ranges shown, with final scope confirmed during discovery. No surprises after we start.

Domains, hosting, and software subscriptions are billed separately.

How do I know which service is right for me?

If you're unsure, start with a Digital Audit. If the problems are already clear, a discovery call will point us to the right tier. Either way, we'll tell you honestly if we're the right fit.

Do you work with small organizations?

Yes. Many of our clients are small teams doing meaningful work. The engagements that work best are ones where leadership is clear on what's broken and ready to act, not ones where the goal is still being worked out.

Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes. Our Fractional Leadership retainer keeps an experienced hand on your digital systems long-term, so they improve over time instead of drifting back to where you started. Monthly advisory, active oversight, or embedded leadership, depending on what you need.

Do you require a deposit? What is the payment schedule?

Most engagements start with a deposit before work begins, with the remainder billed on a schedule we agree on upfront — paid in full, split 50/50, tied to milestones, or monthly, depending on what fits the engagement. Your proposal spells out exactly what's due and when, before you sign anything.

Deposits are non-refundable once work has started, since they reserve time and cover initial setup and planning.

What happens if the scope changes mid-engagement?

If new work comes up that's outside what we originally scoped, we'll flag it and talk through it before doing anything — no surprise invoices. Depending on the size of the change, that might mean a small addendum to the existing proposal or a separate, clearly priced add-on, in writing.

Services

What is the difference between the Digital Audit and Website Modernization services?

A Digital Audit tells you what's broken and what to fix first — it's diagnostic, and you walk away with a prioritized roadmap, not a rebuilt site. Website Modernization is the execution: we actually redesign, rebuild, or optimize the site based on those findings (or a fresh scope if you already know what needs to change). Many clients start with an audit and move into modernization once they know exactly what they're paying for.

Do you offer ongoing or retainer support after a project ends?

Yes. Fractional Leadership is built specifically for this — sustained strategic oversight after the initial project work is done, at a level of involvement (advisory, active, or embedded) that matches how much ongoing support you actually need.

Can services be combined, like Website Modernization plus Workflow & Automation?

Yes, and it's common — a website rebuild often surfaces workflow problems (manual data entry, disconnected tools) that are worth fixing at the same time. Bring it up on your discovery call and we'll scope both together rather than treating them as two separate, disconnected engagements.

Working With Us

What do you need from us as the client?

It varies by engagement, but generally: timely access to any accounts, tools, or brand assets we need, a point of contact who can make or route decisions, and feedback on drafts within a reasonable window so the project doesn't stall. Your specific responsibilities are spelled out in your proposal so there's no ambiguity going in.

What is your typical communication cadence?

We typically communicate via phone, email and Slack, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST. We aim to respond to all communications within 48 hours on business days. For urgent matters, you can call or message us on Slack directly.

Can we pause or extend an engagement if our timeline shifts?

Yes — timelines shift, and we'd rather adjust than force a schedule that no longer fits. Let us know as early as possible if something's changed on your end and we'll work out a revised plan together.

A paused engagement holds your place but does not include active work during the pause, and any amount already invoiced is not refunded for paused time. We'll agree on a resume date together before work picks back up.

Fees for work completed are due when we pause, and we restart based on availability.

Client Portal & Billing

Where do I manage billing or view my invoices?

Billing is handled separately from your project portal through our Stripe billing portal — you can find a "Manage Billing" link on the Login page, under the Client Login card. Sign in with the same email on file for your lead or client account to view invoices and update payment methods directly.

What if I didn't receive my sign-in link, or it expired?

Sign-in links expire after a set window for security. If yours expired, was incomplete, or never arrived, just go back to the Login page and request a new one — it only takes a minute. If your portal access still isn't working after that, reach out and we'll sort it out.

Workshops

How much are workshops and how do I register?

Open workshops are $50 per attendee for a live 60-minute session, capped at 25 seats. Join the waitlist on the Workshops page to be notified when registration opens for an upcoming session.

What is the difference between a public workshop and private team training?

Public workshops are open, fixed-topic sessions anyone can join for $50 a seat. Private team training is built around your team specifically — your systems, your priorities, your execution gaps — and runs 60–90 minutes with custom Q&A, starting at $500 per session for up to 20 seats.

Are workshops recorded if I can't attend live?

Workshops are run live to keep the Q&A interactive, so we don't currently guarantee recordings for open sessions. If attendance is a concern, let us know when you join the waitlist — we're happy to talk through options.
